My ever favourite book. There are hundreds and hundreds of books yet to be pondered through.
But Anne of Green Gables has taken over half of my craze for the books which I read
and which is still remaining. The book I found most enchanting and charming. L.M. Montgomery
has probably picked words and thoughts right from the souls of all young book lovers, imaginers and dreamers. The words and thoughts of Anne made me in love with her the moment I finished my first
read. After all how can I not fall in for a girl of eleven who exclaims with a sigh that "My Life Is A Perfect
Graveyard Of Buried Hopes ". The beautiful times Anne spends with her "Bosom Friend", Diana Barry
is another part which makes me love the book all the more. Every time I come across the part it makes
me yearn for such a " Bosom Friend ", as in Anne's words, in spite of my common friends.
A book which inspires us to dream more, observe more. It also made me place a box of tissue's
beside me :). One of the few books which made me weep and weep (other books which made
me do so was Uncle Tom's Cabin and Little Women). Her innocent humours which she doesn't
realise, would take anyone who is in the verge of anger far away from it and draw them close to her,
in spite of the ferocious situation in which they are in. The simple and elegant words used by the author
is beautiful and easy to grasp.
The imaginary world Anne creates filled with her vivid thoughts, her love for nature and the hard work
she puts in for grabbing first grade, thereby taking Avonlea to glory are few lovely moments which
for no doubt would inspire any young reader. So if anyone hasn't yet got a look at this book, be quick to
get it, to know about an orphan girl who explains so fascinatingly the significance of spelling her name
without forgetting to distinguish the letter 'e', so that her name doesn't look dreadful :
" A-N-N looks dreadful, but A-N-N-E looks so much more distinguished. If
you'll only call me Anne spelled with an 'e' I shall reconcile myself to not being
called Cordelia. " - Anne Of Green Gables
